The letter reads as follows:
To whom it may concern,
We are on a quest for meteorites from Latvia!
There are only 4 known meteorites in Latvia and all are historical falls more than 100 years ago:1. Lixna (1820), see Ref: [ Met.Bul.DB ], [ Enc.of Met. ];
2. Buschhof (1863), see Ref: [ Met.Bul.DB ], [ Enc.of Met. ],
3. Nerft (1864), see Ref: [ Met.Bul.DB ], [ Enc.of Met. ],
4. Misshof (1890), see Ref: [ Met.Bul.DB ], [ Enc.of Met. ],
Unfortunately almost all of these meteorites have been lost from our country. Presently we do not have samples of all four of these meteorites in our country. Currently we are in a stage trying to gather information about their locations in the various world museums and collections. We know some but not all of it.
One of the Meteoriti.LV goals is to return back to our country at least some specimens of Latvian meteorites that will become available for public expositions.
If you have or you come across any related information about the Latvian meteorites (Lixna, Buschhof, Nerft, or Misshof) please inform us at info@meteoriti.lv. Note that a well known information to you might be unknown and valuable to us.
We will gratefully appreciate any help, offers or information you can provide about fate or location of the Latvian meteorites!
Sincerely yours,
Kārlis Bērziņš Meteoriti.LV http://www.meteoriti.lv
