Middlesbrough Meteorite Poll

Postby David Entwistle » Sun May 22, 2011 3:21 pm

Hi,

The Yorkshire Museum appear to be running a poll to determine which of four items visitors would most like to have discovered. The Middlesbrough Meteorite is one of the items, but isn't doing too well in the poll - currently standing third with 19% of the vote...

I think the poll appears when you access the collections page, or is available directly from the link below (bottom left):

Here's a picture of The Middlesborough Meteorite, I know it's been classified as a Chondrite, but which 'grade'? I suspect H4-5?, anyone got any other ideas?

Hi David,

The NHM catalogue and the MetBull database both say L6.

Thanks Kieran, I did look in The Metbull database, but couldn't find it! Must have missed it.

No problemo.

By the way, I assume the photo is of one of those nice replicas, and not the original?

The Middlesbrough meteorite is now showing 20% on the poll. Surely we can all muster a few more votes and make it the winner!

Cheers
