This month a relatively "common" stone to find in public and private collections, but rarely is a slice so full of features. It's a 102g slice of the unusual L5 Ghubara. Ghubara was found in 1954 in Oman, this image was provided by Mike Simms. Click here to view the image in the Gallery or here for our archive of all previous "Image of the Month" images.

Hi All,

Nice slice Mike. If you want to see an amazing picture of one of the big g's in the strewn field look at this link and scroll to Sergey at the bottom of the page.....awesome find....wish I had come across that one in Oman! One of my favourite pictures.

Thats a beautiful slice and although common its a gorgeous meteorite when polished. Graham, that picture of Sergey next to that monolith is amazing! A bit tricky to keep a stone like that hidden in the landcruiser!
