This month we have a part slice of Adrar Chiriet. This image was provided years ago by Mark Crawford, apologies for it taking so long to appear here! Adrar Chiriet is an L6 stone found in Niger in 2003, it has a shock stage of S5. For the technically minded that's "Strongly shocked. Isotropisation of plagioclase (maskelynite) and planar deformation features in olivine", for the less technically minded just look at those black shock veins and melt! Click here to view the image in the Gallery or here for our archive of all previous "Image of the Month" images.

As always in recent months more members image submissions are required.
